School Communications

As most of our
current and future
families know, our
school office will be
physically closed all
summer. This
closing was
necessary as our current offices are being
demolished during the week of June 2nd, and our
new building will not be ready until the end of July.
Everyone can still get in touch with the office staff for
enrollment, re-enrollment, or other issues through
the following means.
All school mail addressed to school is being
forwarded to our administrative team. Please send
all applications, enrollment forms, proofs of
residency, and other document to the normal school
address by the United States Postal Service.

Imagine Wesley International
Academy's New Enrollment for
2008/2009
This summer Imagine Wesley International
Academy is offering two unique, challenging and
exciting camps! Chinese Language Camp and Art
Camp led by two of Imagine Wesley’s finest
teachers.
The Chinese summer camp is already underway!
Chinese Language Camp, which began in late May,
is an eight session interactive Chinese language
camp mainly designed for Imagine Wesley’s
children who currently are at kindergarten level to
4th grade although any elementary age student can
enroll.
Mr. Anthony Chung, one of two Mandarin teachers at
Wesley, graduated from college in Taiwan and is in
his 8th year of teaching. Mr. Chung has a Masters
degree in Foreign Language Education from
University of Georgia and has lived in the United
States for three years. Mr. Chung experienced the
children’s excitement toward the language first hand
during the school year. Creating a Chinese
Language Camp is the first of its kind in the city.
Campers meet twice a week for an engaging and
interactive learning environment for their growing
Chinese language and related knowledge. The
children are encouraged to communicate with peers
and teacher only in Chinese. By incorporating
entertaining activities and music, discussing
cultural differences between American and Chinese
society, and having actual practices in written and
oral Chinese language, children will be more
prepared to become a promising world citizen with
diverse perspectives and bilingual language ability.
Imagine Wesley’s Art teacher, Ms. Juliana Thomas
is offering a highly engaging and creative Art day
camp. Dates for the camp are June 16th through
June 20th for rising Kindergarten through Third
graders and July 14th through 18th for rising Fourth
through Seventh graders.
Ms. Thomas is a native to Atlanta. She is a graduate
of Woodward Academy where she taught for six
years prior to coming to Imagine Wesley. She holds
a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts in Art Education
from Georgia State University and has been a
teacher for 13 years.
During the camp, students will be exposed and
produce artworks from various mediums, including
printmaking, sculpture, drawing, painting, fiber arts
and design. During the creation process, each
student will be challenged by projects that
encourage thinking “outside the box” and problem
solving while building self-esteem. The week will
culminate with an “Opening Reception” at
WonderRoot’s Art Gallery, a perfect opportunity for
students to show off to their families what they have
created during the week. The camp is taking place
at WonderRoot Art Center, located in East Atlanta.
WonderRoot will hold gallery shows for Imagine
Wesley’s students throughout the school year.
Both camps offer scholarships and financial aid for
interested students. Financial contributions to
these camps are provided by the Imagine Wesley
International Academy LLC board. The board has a
commitment that high quality education is offered
during the school year but is also offered throughout
the summer. The LLC board is very excited by the
efforts of Mr. Chung, Ms. Thomas, parents and
especially the campers.
There are still spots available for both sessions of
Art Camp. For more information, please contact
Juliana Thomas at 404-573-3826. For more
information on the Chinese Language Camp,

New Quality Professional After-School
Programs at Imagine Wesley
If you have driven by the school sometime during
the past few weeks, you have seen dramatic
changes to our school campus. On June 3rd the
former school offices and educational wing were
demolished to make way for our second
classroom building. This second classroom
building has already begun to take shape, with the
prefabricated concrete panels being raised during
the last two weeks of June. The roofing system for
this building should be installed by July 7th.
Bouma Construction is right on schedule to deliver
the first classroom building for occupancy during
the last week of July. The second classroom
building will be completed before Thanksgiving,
with 6 classes of students moving out of the
former sanctuary during Winter break (end of
December) into these brand new spacious
classrooms. Please watch the website and your
email box for announcements about
Back-to-School night, grade level socials,
kindergarten screenings, and other beginning of
the school year events. The first day of school is
Monday August 11th, 2008. Enjoy your Summer
Break!
